StatementMy design process begins with photography. I collect images of anything that catches my eye - it could be a bowl of jellybeans or crumbling old brick wall. The photographs are then manipulated using computer software to create multi-faceted and decorative patterns. The unpredictable nature of working with the computer is combined with a methodical and formulaic approach to constructing each design; the emphasis is on colour and on creating patterns with 'personality' that reflect in some way the original image from which they were created. Printing the designs onto everyday objects brings them to life. For me, this is the most exciting part of my work. |
